THE STORY BEHIND THE O*

The creation of the OTC was purely accidental. What is the “O” in OTC? To explain that, we have to go back to the start. In 2012, MN Throw Coach was born to help elevate high school throwing in Minnesota. Based at the University of Minnesota, MN Throw Coach had an immediate impact on young throwers, both in the metro and outstate areas.. Those young athletes would spend November through early March with MN Throw Coach honing their skills. The challenge was that once those athletes returned to their respective schools, some of those athletes struggled and did not retain the momentum created during the club sessions. This did not go unnoticed by parents.

By 2017, at the end of the winter sessions in March, parents approached me to start coaching their athletes during the High School season. These athletes were from across the Twin Cities metro area and the State. Since I did not have a facility to coach from, I secretly obtained access to the University of Minnesota’s throws training facility. Once the Gophers were done with their training, my throwers would arrive and we would train. That spring saw great success with that training group. Those athletes broke their schools respective school records, were broke state meet records, and were part of unprecedented state championship performances.
